Calling All General Education
Faculty
Would you like to teach an existing departmental General Education
course in Cherbourg, France during Summer Session II, 2010? Three
courses have been selected by the General Education Committee:
BIOL 1030, DANC 1000, and PS 1010. Proposals in the
categories of Communication, History, or Mathematics are sought. -

Submission of General Education Courses for
Study Abroad France 2010
- The Study Abroad revised course must be one
that is already accepted in the MTSU General Education Core.
- The course must be submitted and revised as a
General Education Study Abroad course.
- The Study Abroad revised course must include
modules, background history, and contextualized information to
internationalize content.
- The Study Abroad revised course must utilize
local areas of interest in Cherbourg, Normandy, France: WW II, horse
science, agriculture/viticulture, fishing industry, international
trade/economics, Maritime Museum, Liberation Museum, Thomas Henry
Museum, Natural History and Ethnography Museum, Alexis de
Tocqueville (village of Tocqueville near Cherbourg), artist
Jean Francois

- The Study Abroad revised course could include
weekend trips to Paris (220 miles), London (145 miles), or
Southampton (80 miles) or other areas of
Europe.
- The Study Abroad revised course description
and syllabus (in both signed hard copy and electronic copy) should
be submitted with the original General Education course description
to the General Education Office (CAB111,
wbadley@mtsu.edu) by
September 18, 2009. A letter of recommendation from
the department chair outlining experience and strengths in
instruction in General Education courses should be submitted at the
same time. For additional information, please contact Dr.

- The courses will be reviewed and approved by
the faculty and student members of the MTSU University Committee on
General Education and recommended for review and
approval to the Director General Education and the Vice Provost for
Academic Affairs.
